Operation Olympia
The prestige project of Department of Sports, Govt. of Kerala “Operation Olympia – 2024” has been launched on (28th May 2017) by Hon’ble Minister for Sports, Kerala, Shri A. C. Moideen at Thrissur.
Operation Olympia envisages grooming of 250 top and elite potential Sports persons from 11 Sports disciplines across the state and trains them with State of art infrastructures and training facilities including services of foreign coaches, exposure in international events etc.Operation Olympia – 2024 will focus on 11 Sports disciplines namely Athletics (Sprints, Middle distance and jumps events), Women Boxing, Women Wrestling, Shooting, Archery, Canoeing and Kayaking, Rowing, Fencing, Badminton, Cycling and Swimming.
Womens Volleyball Academy
Kerala has the best Volleyball tradition in the country . But there is only limited projects for the development of women Volleyball in the state. No other plans have been implemented for the growth of women’s Volleyball at the grassroots level.
Proposal for Women Horizontal Jumps Academy (Long jump & Triple jump)
Kerala State has the best sports culture in the country, particularly in the field of Athletics. The state has produced many outstanding horizontal jumpers who represented the country at Asian, Common wealth Games, Olympics and World Championships.
Centre of Excellence (Elite Training Centre - Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball)
Kerala State Sports Council has implemented Elite Scheme in various disciplines like Athletics, Volleyball and Basketball in order to nourish the sports skills in young talented sports persons and to make them capable of securing medals in Asian/ Common wealth/ Olympic Games.
Women Football Academy
Kerala has the best Foot ball tradition in the country . But there is only limited projects for the development of women foot ball in the state. No other plans have been implemented for the growth of women’s Foot ball at the grassroots level. In women’s football Kerala lags far behind Nationally.
Kayika Kshmatha Mission
Kayika Kshamatha Mission envisages the improvement of physical fitness level of the students as well as the general public and also creating awareness about physical literacy.The mission is currently under development.
Scholarship for outstanding Sports Persons
Kerala State Sports Council has introduced a new scholarship scheme in the memory of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam with a vision of supporting outstanding sportspersons in Kerala. Apart from this other scholarship program are also envisaged under the scheme.
Sports Excellence Scheme
There are 61 day boarding Centres functioning under Kerala State Sports Council. Monthly grant of Rs. 25 is given per day to each student under this scheme.
Khelo India
The Khelo India scheme is being implemented which had two components i.e., Sports Competitions and Sports Infrastructure. The revised and revamped Khelo India scheme consists of (12) components
Sports Academy
Kerala State Sports Council facilitates 23 centralized sports hostels across Kerala. These hostels are for Boxing, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Kho Kho, Swimming, Canoeing, Kayaking, Athletics, Fencing, Archery, etc.
Day Boarding Centre
Kerala State sports Council is the largest organization which is providing a number of day boarding centres . Kerala State sports council facilitates 108 day boarding centres across Kerala. It includes all districts in state.
